THIRST: VFD amplifies queer music

VFD in Dalston is t'ARTs first home, and a staple of the London queer scene. And this season they are celebrating queer music in their newest event series 'THIRST'.

Our very own Queer Sound weekender, which featured live music, a club night, an exhibition and two creative workshops, was the first event of the programme and they have plenty more community-led events planned for East London's thirsty queer music lovers.

The cost of living crisis has put a real strain on the music community and VFD is looking to support and connect with new music makers and audiences. We spoke to VFD about the importance of creating space for emerging queer musicians, and their vision for the programme:

"THIRST was born out of a thirst for more Live Music. As we all know, the music community has been hard hit by the cost of living crisis and the loss of many queer run venues. We wanted to create an opportunity for queer musicians to share in an environment that supports them and provides a space for growth as well as bringing new life to the live music scene which is so desperately needed right now. Our next Thirst Live Music Showcase is Thursday 24th April, which will highlight Hyperpop, Anarcho-Electronica & Industrial/Electronic musicians."

From open decks nights to erotic opera, turbo charged Karaoke with live drums and bass, to the experimental, this programme traverses the breadth of queer music-making, and you don't want to miss it.
